With more than 1000 sworn and civilian members, the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) is looking for a Permanent Full-Time Programmer/Analyst to join our team. As the Programmer/Analyst...
You Will:
- Analyze, design, develop, implement, document and maintain information systems;
- Assist in the research of new technologies applicable to the advancement of the Service;
- Build interfaces between existing and new systems to be used both internally and externally;
- Develop and maintain GIS applications using ESRI Arc Objects;
- Provide technical training and support to members of the police service;
- Evaluate, modify and maintain existing software and resources to ensure system functionality; and
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
You Have:
- A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering or related field, plus at least five (5) years’ experience in a programming/analytical capacity;
- Comprehensive knowledge of systems analysis, design, and computer networks (security, sharing, troubleshooting);
- Previous experience working with programming languages, such as ASP.NET 4.6, ASP.NET MVC, C#, C++, and other related languages;
- Previous experience working with SQL Server 2014 and Visual Studio 2015 to create complex scripts to match diverse data sets;
- Previous experience mapping including data movement, data quality and cleansing;
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills required to resolve issues as it pertains to data extraction and mapping; and
- A valid Class ‘G’ Ontario driver’s license with no more than six (6) demerit points.
You Are:
- Able to elicit information to develop highly technical computer applications solutions and troubleshoot technical problems;
- Able to extract and convert data from multiple sources consistently and in accordance with mandatory guidelines;
- Able to clearly and concisely provide explanations and direction to end users who are only partially familiar with technical terminology;
- Able to write computer language;
- Able to reference and interpret technical manuals and to research the Internet to evaluate various new developments in operating systems and software;
- Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks and work schedules to efficiently fix database corruptions immediately;
- A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills; and
- Able to meet the testing and police security requirements for the position.
