As the HRIS Programmer/ Analyst…
You Will:
- Act as the technical subject matter expert in the configuration, integration and maintenance of the HRIS. Provides system administration and technical support for the HRIS and all other applications that connect to the HRIS, including all interfaces to these systems; continuously identifies opportunities for improvement;
- Oversee the technical implementation of the HRIS system functionality and system upgrades, including test case development, testing, and maintenance; assesses the impacts of the new releases on current configuration and business processes;
- Partner with the Human Resources Branch and Payroll staff to facilitate the identification, analysis, and documentation of business needs and requirements; provides input into the creation of technical specifications, design documentation, and testing strategies for system optimization;
- Provide guidance to the Human Resources Branch and the Finance Branch regarding system administration, system rules and application functionalities referencing policies, collective agreements, and legislation;
- Collaborate with vendors and the Region of Waterloo to resolve configuration issues or system errors requiring technical support;
- Consult with members to ensure that new system configuration, procedures, and tools are functioning as programmed and are being utilized accurately. Facilitates end-user understanding of HRIS capabilities and available data through appropriate training and guidance of application functionalities and reporting tools;
- Develop complex database queries designed to provide data and information;
- Develop and maintain customized reports and dashboards functions in the HRIS;
- Create and maintain technical documentation of existing applications architecture, including process flows, diagrams, and operational procedures;
- Investigate new system functionality; research, review and analyse proposals, conducting research to understand the effect of potential changes on current processes and systems; and
- Performs any other related duties as assigned.
You Have:
- Successful completion of a three (3) year community college program in Computer Systems Technology, Computer Programming and Analysis, Computer Science, or related field;
- Three (3) years working with Human Resource Information systems, payroll, time and attendance tracking systems, or other related Human Resource systems is required. Previous experience working with the SAP HRIS is considered an asset;
- Experience with the System Development Life Cycle methodology, including the discovery, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of the solution and module delivery of business solutions using information technology systems and governance;
- Previous experience with implementing an enterprise-based system;
- Demonstrated skill in developing complex queries on relational database using developer tools;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project and Word;
- Working knowledge of programming languages, such as Visual Studio suite (ASP.Net, C#, MVC), T-SQL, and ETL tool;
- Proficient using reporting and business intelligence technologies, such as Power BI, Crystal Reports, and Microsoft Visual Studio Reporting Services;
- Self-motivated and organized with a well-developed sense of time, projects, and priority management;
- Analytical skills and problem-solving skills to identify process inefficiencies and areas of optimization, develop solutions and make recommendations; and
- A valid Class “G” Driver’s License with no more than six (6) demerit points required to travel within and outside the Region.
